Neck Liposuction in Atlanta
Neck liposuction is a commonly performed procedure in Atlanta and nationwide. It is a fairly minimally invasive procedure with high yield results and little downtime. Determining whether or not you are a candidate is essential. Neck liposuction candidates are under the age of 45 for caucasians, and under 47-48 for darker skin types, and have mild to moderate fullness under their chin, also called a double chin. Many of these same patients have a recessed chin or may claim that they’ve never had a neck; these patients may do well with some form of chin augmentation in addition to neck liposuction.
Neck liposuction is performed under local anesthesia, sedation, or general anesthesia. Because the neck needs to be numbed before the procedure begins to help control bleeding, having some form of sedation is recommended to minimize the sensation from the needles that instill the local anesthesia. Once anesthetized, a small incision is made under the chin, and depending on the person, behind the ear lobes on both sides, to give a nice improvement in not just the neckline but also the jawline. Once finished, the neck wrap is placed around the head overnight.
Downtime is usually 5-7 days for bruising and to be presentable. Neck liposuction is a highly gratifying procedure because it usually takes 20-30 minutes to perform and yields a great result with little downtime.
