Laser Spot Removal in Atlanta, GA

Unsightly blemishes on your face can make you feel self-conscious and embarrassed when you are interacting with others. You may have reached a point where you have given up on ever achieving clean, clear, evenly-toned skin.

At Northside Plastic Surgery, are here to help you bring out the most beautiful version of yourself. When it comes to facial blemishes, we have two distinct treatments that have been scientifically developed to address varying forms of blemishes. Whether you suffer from rosacea, age spots, freckles, or even a port-wine stain – we have the technology to treat hyperpigmentation effectively.

The benefits of the Alexandrite Laser

If you search the internet for laser skin treatments, you are likely to find thousands of results. Each laser system claims to work miracles and work for a wide range of conditions. At Northside Plastic Surgery, we do not subscribe to the “one miracle to cure everything” philosophy, and instead, focus on which treatment will work best for each condition. The Alexandrite Laser is one of most effective treatments available to target the brown melanin cells in your skin and comes with many benefits:

  • Highly effective at reducing or removing all types of brown spots on your skin
  • Comfortable and tolerable treatment
  • Rapid results, with most spots disappearing in a matter of weeks
  • No downtime

Am I a candidate for the Alexandrite Laser?

The Alexandrite Laser is safe for most individuals who suffer brown pigmentation on the skin, though this treatment may not be right for those who have naturally dark or tanned skin. The risk of complications is virtually nonexistent, and the procedure is safe for patients of any age.

What to expect with an Alexandrite Laser treatment?

When you arrive for spot removal with the Alexandrite Laser, we will begin with an in-person consultation and analysis of your skin. We identify and mark each spot that needs to be removed, and then we apply a numbing cream on the targeted areas for increased comfort.

Once the numbing cream has taken effect, we proceed with the treatment. The procedure takes from fifteen to thirty minutes to complete, and most patients report only a slight sting with each application of the laser. Once the treatment is complete, you can expect your skin to be a bit red with bumpy areas where the laser was applied, though this usually resolves within a few days. If you undergo Alexandrite Laser on your face, you can reapply makeup shortly after completing the procedure to camouflage any residual redness.

Your results from an Alexandrite Laser treatment

Within three to five weeks, you can expect the treated spots to be gone dramatically reduced. Some people require two or three treatments to achieve optimal results, but even a single treatment can make a visible difference.

Eradicating blemishes with the Nd:YAG laser

For many, the blemishes on their face are not simple freckles but instead are more visible, colored skin conditions such as:

  • Birthmarks
  • Port wine stains
  • Red spots
  • Rosacea facial redness
  • For these, there is no better option than the Nd:YAG laser, which uses precise light energy frequencies to target the damaged and pigmented cells in your skin. This highly customizable laser system allows us to target the type of hyperpigmentation on your skin, rather than a generic treatment.

The benefits of the Nd:YAG laser treatment

Undergoing laser therapy with the Nd:YAG system comes with several benefits:

    • Safely and effectively remove unsightly blemishes
    • Tighter, firmer skin
    • Reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines
    • Improve skin tone
    • Safe and gentle treatment
    • No downtime

Am I a candidate for hyperpigmentation treatments with Nd:YAG?

You may be a candidate for Nd:YAG if you suffer from any of the following conditions:

    • Unsightly birthmarks
    • Port wine stains in visible areas
    • Rosacea
    • Enlarged blood vessels and facial redness
    • Red spots
    • Enlarged pores

What to expect during my Nd:YAG treatment?

The first step is always an in-person consultation to understand your aesthetic goals and determine which treatments and lasers will be most effective for you. To begin, we will apply numbing cream over the targeted areas for added comfort, which usually takes 20 to 30 minutes to take effect. Once your skin is ready, we will apply the laser to the targeted areas in bright bursts, each of which may feel like a rubber band snapping with a slight sting. The average treatment takes about 45 minutes.

Once all areas have been treated, you can expect your skin to be slightly red and feel mildly sunburned, and your skin may swell a little bit. You will be able to return to your daily life activities immediately following treatment, and the redness usually dissipates within a matter of hours. Your blemishes will begin to darken over the following one to two weeks, after which they will begin to fade and disappear.

    Re-Opening May 4th Update:

As a valued member of the Northside Plastic Surgery family, I want to personally update you on steps our practice has taken to protect you and your health in light of the COVID-19 situation.

As it has always been, the safety and health of our patients and team members remains our highest priority. As your physician, I want to thank you for your support and the confidence you have in our practice. In response to the coronavirus, we have taken the basic CDC recommendations and have added the following extra measures to protect our patients:

    1. We are waiving our $150 fee for Virtual Consultations for new and established patients.
    2. We ask all patients to stay in their car and call us upon arrival. Once on-site, your temperature will be taken along with a screening questionnaire, you will be provided hand sanitizer, and then escorted directly to an exam room or empty reception area. We ask all patients to wear a surgical mask or face covering to their appointment. As a high-end practice, we are taking advantage of our large size and multiple VIP waiting areas to maximize social distancing.
    3. We are performing regular and careful screening of patients with a bias for suspicion that a patient might have the coronavirus.
    4. All staff are screened daily with a temperature check and symptom survey. All staff are required to wear a surgical mask, gloves, and perform frequent hand washing.
    5. We take great pride in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene. We have increased the frequency of cleaning our public areas hourly (including lobbies, furniture, elevators, door handles, exam chairs, public bathrooms, etc.) and have continued the use of hospital-grade disinfectant. All exam rooms and highly touched surfaces are sanitized in between patients.
    6. Because of the increased sanitizing requirements, we have reduced the number of patients that will be seen every hour and spacing out appointments.
    7. Since we have our own fully accredited on-site surgery center, we do not have actively infected patients using our operating rooms such as in hospitals. This provides a great security blanket for our patients. We are currently performing at full capacity and completely prepared to perform all scheduled surgeries and procedures and are taking all necessary precautions to ensure your safety and well-being.
    8. We are postponing all advanced training sessions for visiting physicians and providers until June.
    9. We ask that all patients with upper respiratory symptoms such as cough, fever, shortness of breath to please reschedule your appointments and call your family doctor.
    10. For more, you can always find up-to-date and accurate information on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website.

Thank you for being a loyal patient. We will remain attentive to this situation and keep you updated on any changes with the practice. We are privileged to serve you and look forward to seeing you soon.
