Providing Contour and Definition to Your Arms
If you have sagging and unsightly skin on the upper arms because of weight loss, genetics, or aging, then you may be a candidate for brachioplasty, which is commonly known as upper arm lift surgery. Brachioplasty is a procedure that reduces or eliminates excess skin from the upper arms.
While exercise can improve and strengthen muscle tone in your upper arms, it can’t address excess skin that has lost elasticity. If you are generally in good health and not significantly overweight, then arm lift surgery can restore a healthier, youthful appearance.
What to Expect with Your Arm Lift
Our arm lift procedures are performed on an outpatient basis using general anesthesia. Most arm lift surgeries are completed in one-and-a-half to two to three hours, depending on the amount of excess skin. The procedure involves removing excess skin along an incision, which ideally falls along the line of blouse seam. The length and pattern of the incision are determined by how much skin will be removed.
If necessary, liposuction will be used to remove excess fat. Your skin will then be draped over the new contours and excess skin will be removed. After your arm lift, your incisions will be loosely wrapped in elastic bandages to minimize swelling. More than likely, you will be required to wear a compressive sleeve or bandage for the first few weeks following surgery.
