Belotero for Under Eyes
Belotero is a thin hyaluronic acid filler that appears very soft under the skin when used. It is also the thinnest filler on the market so it has been great to use in thin areas such as Belotero for under eyes hollows, in the fine crow’s feet lines, into forehead or neck lines, or into lipstick lines around the lips. It can also be used to fill thin depressed scars very effectively.
Because of its soft nature, once injected, it can easily be massaged to minimize its prominence under the skin. However, because it is thin and soft, our bodies tend to break down faster as well. The only exception is Belotero for under eyes. For some reason, maybe because of minimal movement or because it is injected close to the bone, hyaluronic acid in this area seems to persist, sometimes for years! Because Belotero for under eyes is an off-label use, it hasn’t been studied by the FDA, hence we don’t know how long it truly lasts around the eye; however, anecdotal experience tells us it can last 1-5 years.
Most individuals need only one syringe for the under eye area. Rarely, hyaluronic acid can ‘attract’ water towards it causing the eye area to look puffy. To avoid this, belotero for under eyes is injected over 2 visits in our practice to see if the initial injection causes any puffiness.
