Natural Neck Lift Plastic Surgery

What is a Natural Neck Lift?

A natural neck lift is a combination of procedures to enhance the appearance of a person’s neck. Depending on the person and the type of neck, it may include removal of skin, liposuction for fat removal, tightening of neck muscles, or all three. Botox injections can also be used before or during the procedure to give the neck a smoother appearance.

How a Natural Neck Lift Is Done

The procedure can be performed under local anesthesia, sedation, or general anesthesia. We perform all of our procedures in our fully accredited AAAHC-certified state-of-the-art outpatient surgery center specializing only in facial surgery. The combination of a board certified anesthesiologist (who is also on staff at Emory Hospital), certified registered nurses experienced in cosmetic surgery, a private, confidential setting, and a non-existent infection rate gives our patients the utmost confidence in their safety. During the procedure, incisions are well-hidden behind the ear to access neck muscles and excess skin. During liposuction, a small 3mm incision is made just under the chin to remove excess fat. Frequently, a facelift can be combined with natural neck lifts to improve the jaw line and cheek sagging in addition to addressing the neck. The entire procedure takes less than 2 hours.

Who is a Good Candidate?

Good candidates are individuals with excess fat, such as a 'double chin', or excess skin, such as a 'turkey neck' around their chin and neck. Thin patients will show banding in the neck with extra skin; these are vertical bands that extend from the middle of the chin to the bottom of the neck and can be addressed with the same procedure described above.

What to Expect Postoperatively?

After the surgery, patients will have a head dressing that will be removed the next morning. A 'chin strap' will be given to the patient at this time to wear over the next 2 weeks to help maintain the beautiful neck line we create for you. Recovery is on average 7 to 10 days and is associated with temporary swelling, bruising, and mild discomfort. (TOP)
